Training Program at IMC
During their three month stay in Germany the Chinese fellows spend one month in Hamburg where they take part in the Training Program of the International Media Center (IMC). It is a central component of the Medienbotschafter-Program. The Training Program comprehends seminars, workshops and discussions about Germany’s applied geography, the German media landscape and established display formats in German journalism. In the seminars about Germany’s culture and applied geography, the Chinese fellows get an insight into Germany’s political and legal system. Furthermore the courses deal with the role of Germany in the European Union and current social issues. The main focus of the IMC Training Program lies on the German media system and the daily work of German journalists. In different workshops held by designated experts and scientists the Chinese fellows gather intensive experiences in portrait writing, investigative research, online journalism and media ethics in Germany. In addition the IMC organizes discussions with leading journalists to promote the intellectual dialogue between China and Germany. Each year the IMC is proud to enlist a high number of excellent professionals as tutors for the Training Program. Amongst others the IMC invites chief and managing editors of German newspapers and magazines, leading communication scientists, heads of influential organizations and experts in Chinese-German relations. Hence the Training Program combines high potential characters with high quality information.
